— The Yika Edit
Haute Couture Week | Day 2
Day two of Haute Couture Week reminded us that innovation doesn't always begin with a new material, it begins with a new way of seeing one.

Across the collections, a quiet pattern emerged. Botanical influences appeared again and again, not always as literal florals, but through organic textures, sculptural volumes and silhouettes that felt as though they had grown naturally rather than been constructed. Chanel reimagined its unmistakable house codes through botanical storytelling, proving that a strong design DNA can evolve without losing its identity.

What stood out most, however, was the way designers manipulated familiar materials into something entirely unexpected.
Stéphane Rolland transformed ivory, black and white into sculptural forms with remarkable precision, proving how silhouette and craftsmanship alone can create drama.
Germanier showed that innovation doesn't always come from new materials, but from reimagining how existing ones are constructed. The abstract embellishments and sculptural details felt fresh and expressive.

Giorgio Armani Privé took a quieter approach, allowing rich embroidery and a beautifully coordinated dark palette to speak for themselves. Every look felt refined, balanced and intentionally composed. Just like Armani always does.
Ashi Studio once again reminded us that couture is at its most powerful when every garment carries a story beyond what the eye immediately sees.
Alexis Mabille explored contemporary silhouettes through the use of different fabrics and construction techniques, offering a fresh perspective with methods that felt familiar rather than radically new.

Our biggest takeaway from day two is simple: couture isn't chasing new materials, it is redefining how existing ones can be experienced. For brands, that's an important lesson. Innovation doesn't always require starting from scratch; sometimes, elevating your own design language through craftsmanship, thoughtful manipulation and a clear point of view is what creates the strongest impact.
